Marine Vacth

Marine Vacth is the kind of French talent whose path from modeling into serious cinema always interests me. Born in Paris in 1991, she came up as a model before stepping in front of the camera as an actress. I find that crossover compelling because the two crafts demand opposite things: stillness versus motion, image versus interior life. The fact that she made the leap suggests an ambition beyond just being a face. French cinema has a long tradition of discovering young actresses and trusting them with demanding roles, and her César-nominated lead in Jeune et Jolie (2013) places Vacth firmly in that lineage. I would happily watch where her instincts take her next.
