Mark Drakeford

Mark Drakeford is exactly the kind of politician I find compelling: a former social worker from Carmarthenshire who rose to lead Wales as First Minister. People who spent years in the hard realities of frontline care tend to speak with a weight that career politicians lack, and that grounding shows. His cautious pandemic leadership drew both praise and criticism, but I read it as the instinct of someone trained to protect the vulnerable. That he returned to handle finance even after stepping down tells me he is a genuine workhorse, not a man chasing titles. I respect that consistency.
