Mark McKinney

Mark McKinney is the sort of comedian I find endlessly admirable because his craft runs so much deeper than the laughs. As a core member of The Kids in the Hall, he helped shape a sketch sensibility that influenced generations, and the fact that he also writes, produces, and voices roles tells me he understands comedy from every angle. Sketch work demands both split-second instinct and meticulous architecture, and sustaining that for decades is no small feat. I have a soft spot for performers who are quietly versatile rather than loudly famous, and McKinney embodies that low-key mastery beautifully.
