Marquinhos

Marquinhos is, to my mind, the most underrated great defender of his era. He's not the tallest centre-back going, yet his anticipation and recovery speed make him almost impossible to beat one-on-one. What strikes me most is that he captains both Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil at once, which tells you everything about his temperament and leadership. He rarely grabs headlines because his game is built on quiet, error-free consistency rather than spectacle. Born in 1994, he still has years ahead of him, and I suspect history will be far kinder to his legacy than the casual fan is today.
