Marthe Keller

Marthe Keller is the kind of European actress I find endlessly impressive. Born in Basel in 1945, she moves between stage, film, song and directing with a fluency few performers ever achieve. International audiences know her from Marathon Man and its Golden Globe nomination, but I am more struck by the long arc of honors behind her: a Swiss Film Award, the Legion of Honour, the Order of Arts and Letters. That cross-border respect is earned, not gifted. What I respect most is her sheer durability, still drawn to the stage well into her eighties.
