My Take

Maryam d'Abo will always be Kara Milovy, the Bond girl from 1987's The Living Daylights, and that's a label that follows you forever. What I admire is that she carried it without being swallowed by it. British, raised in London, she kept going as an actress and moved into directing too, refusing to be a one-role flash. People who don't get burned up by a single huge break, who keep working at their own pace, earn my trust. A glamorous entry point but feet planted firmly on the ground, that's how I picture her.
