Masaru Matsuhashi

Honestly, there's something quietly compelling about a guy from Isahaya — a pretty understated city in Nagasaki — who grinds his way to Waseda University and keeps playing soccer the whole time. He spent eleven seasons at Ventforet Kofu, reinventing himself from forward to full-back, and that adaptability makes him more interesting to me, not less. In an era where every athlete is a personal brand with a curated feed, there's something almost old-school about a footballer who just… exists, does the work, and doesn't feel the need to explain himself. Smart enough for Waseda, tough enough to come out of Nagasaki and make something of it — I respect the quiet ones.
