My Take
Matthias Jaissle is the kind of coach who makes you do a double-take — this guy was born in 1988, which means he was barely in his early thirties when he started winning Austrian championships. He took Red Bull Salzburg to back-to-back Austrian titles in 2022 and 2023, plus an Austrian Cup, and — here's the part that genuinely impressed me — he led them into the UEFA Champions League knockout stage for the first time in the club's history. That's not a fluke, that's a guy who understands modern pressing football at a deep level. Standing 186 cm tall, he played the game himself before pivoting to coaching relatively young, and you can feel that player's intuition in how his teams move. After two AFC Champions League Elite titles with Al-Ahli, he is now at Newcastle United, and I'm genuinely curious how that Red Bull intensity plays in the Premier League.
