Mayu Matsuoka

I've watched Mayu Matsuoka grow up on screen, and honestly it's a little wild that the kid who kept popping up as a child actor turned into someone collecting supporting-actress trophies. What gets me is her range without the showboating, she'll flick from goofy, mile-a-minute comic energy to a quiet, shadowed stillness in the same breath, and I fall for it every single time. There's also this genuine film-and-theater-nerd streak in her, the kind of person who'll talk your ear off about a movie she loves, and I find that completely endearing. She's chatty and bright off-camera but snaps into total focus the moment a role demands it, and that push-pull is sneaky good. I just want her to keep doing exactly this, loose and loving what she loves, for a long time.
