Megan Fox is one of the more underrated talents of her generation, in my view, precisely because the conversation around her rarely gets past her looks. The Transformers fame nearly trapped her in the eye-candy box, yet she fought back through sharper, stranger work, Jennifer's Body chief among it, which has rightly become a cult feminist touchstone. Her comic timing on New Girl proved range the blockbusters never let her show. I respect the persistence of a Tennessee kid who kept claiming the center of huge films on her own terms. She deserves a reappraisal that takes the actor, not the image, seriously.
