Michael Des Barres

Michael Des Barres is one of those gloriously hard-to-categorise figures I always enjoy. A genuine rock singer who fronted The Power Station at Live Aid in Robert Palmer's place, then a memorable screen villain as Murdoc in MacGyver, he treats acting and music as a single performing instinct. There is real nerve in stepping into a stadium gig at short notice and owning it. Add the inherited marquisate and the whole life reads like theatre. I admire performers who refuse a single lane, and Des Barres has spent decades cheerfully ignoring the boundaries entirely.
