Michael Greyeyes

What strikes me most about Michael Greyeyes is the quiet authority he brings to every role. As a Cree actor portraying icons like Crazy Horse and Sitting Bull, he carries a historical weight that no casting director could manufacture. I admire that he refuses to be boxed in: dancer, choreographer, director, educator. His work in Woman Walks Ahead and Fear the Walking Dead shows restraint rather than spectacle, which I find far more compelling. He represents a generation of Indigenous artists reclaiming their own stories, and I think his teaching legacy may ultimately matter as much as his screen credits.
