Mike Lindup

Mike Lindup is the sort of musician I treasure most: the one who never grabs the spotlight yet whom the whole sound depends on. In Level 42, a band defined by its bass, his keyboards and crystalline falsetto added the air, color and warmth that made the songs breathe. Born in 1959, he has spent decades supporting the harmony rather than shouting over it, and he also has his own official website. I find that quiet, lifelong devotion deeply appealing. Give me the player who builds the world in the spaces between the notes.
