Moritz Bleibtreu

Moritz Bleibtreu is, to my mind, the face of modern German cinema. Breaking through in Knockin' on Heaven's Door and shining in Run Lola Run, Das Experiment, and The Baader Meinhof Complex, he proved his range across genres, and the Silver Bear confirms the acclaim. That he also directs and writes suggests an actor who sees the whole film, not just his part. Bleibtreu brings a charisma and edge of danger that few peers manage. I genuinely wish substantial actors like him drew the global attention that flashier Hollywood names so easily command.
