My Take
What strikes me about Mychal Thompson is how much of a trailblazer he was: the first player born and raised in the Bahamas to reach the NBA, and the number one overall pick in the 1978 draft. That alone makes him a quiet piece of basketball history. He went on to win titles as a key reserve for the Showtime Lakers, and I find it fitting that he later became a broadcaster, staying close to the game. Standing 208 cm, he had the frame teams covet, but what I respect more is the path he carved for others from the islands.
