Nanami Hashimoto

Nanami Hashimoto is, for me, the textbook example of someone who knew exactly when to walk away. A Hokkaido girl out of Asahikawa, she always read a little differently from the rest of Nogizaka46 to me, that pale, almost translucent skin and a cool, faintly melancholy intelligence behind the eyes that made her feel less like an idol and more like a film still. The modeling made sense too, since those long lines could carry pretty much anything, yet she never struck me as someone hungry to elbow her way to the front. Then she just quietly drew the curtain at the peak, the moment everyone else would have clung on, and that decision to own her own life still sticks with me. I don't need flashy stories from her. That stillness and that clean exit are more than enough to remember her by.
