Neal Asher

Neal Asher is the kind of science fiction writer I quietly admire for sticking to his guns. He builds vast, brutal far-future universes where artificial intelligence reigns and humanity has to fight for its place, and he never softens the edges to please anyone. What strikes me most is how he lets the work speak rather than his biography; the man near Chelmsford simply keeps producing dense, inventive space opera and razor-sharp short fiction. In an era obsessed with personal branding, that craftsman's focus feels rare and genuinely refreshing to me.
