Mienoumi Tsuyoshi

Honestly, the moment I read that Mienoumi climbed all the way to the 57th yokozuna, I just exhaled and went, "okay, this man earned every inch." Reaching the top rank in sumo isn't something you luck into, it's the reward for getting flattened in the practice ring a thousand times and still planting your feet and pushing forward. A kid from Matsusaka in Mie who ended up wearing the rope at the very summit of the dohyo, that's the kind of quiet, grinding persistence I can't help but respect. I don't need flashy gossip or wild anecdotes to be impressed here. The yokozuna title alone carries enough weight that I find myself instinctively bowing my head a little. He feels like the sturdy, unshakable type, and honestly, that's plenty for me.
