Nic White

At 175 cm, Nic White was undersized for elite rugby, yet he commanded the field as a scrum-half for the Western Force and the Wallabies. That is the kind of athlete I love watching: the one who wins with vision, nerve and quick hands rather than sheer mass. Coming out of Scone in New South Wales, he clearly carried a hungry, scrappy edge to the top tier. The scrum-half is rugby's brain, and players who think the game faster than they run it always impress me more. White strikes me as that rare tactician's tactician.
