Nico Parker had every excuse to coast on her lineage, being the daughter of Thandiwe Newton, but instead she keeps choosing roles that genuinely test her. Her debut in Dumbo announced real poise, and then Sarah in the first season of The Last of Us absolutely gutted me; that opening hour leans hard on her, and she carries it. Playing Astrid in the live-action How to Train Your Dragon shows she can anchor a blockbuster too. What I like is the restraint. She underplays where others would emote, and that control reads as quiet confidence rather than a famous surname cashing in.
