My Take
Nicollette Sheridan's story is itself a soap plot: a Worthing-born Brit who became American television's reigning queen of the genre. From modeling to Dynasty and Knots Landing to her indelible Edie in Desperate Housewives, she could raise the temperature of any scene she walked into. What I admire is that her presence was never passive; even in supporting turns she commanded the frame with a sly, self-possessed glamour. A 1990 Soap Opera Digest Award and a Screen Actors Guild ensemble prize underline a stubbornly enduring career. People reduce her to looks, but I read her as fundamentally a performer of nerve.
