My Take

You may not know Nika Futterman's face, but you almost certainly know her voice. A New Yorker trained at the High School of Performing Arts and NYU's Tisch School, she has voiced a staggering range of animated characters, most famously Asajj Ventress in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. What fascinates me about voice acting is the sheer transformation involved: becoming a villain, a child, or a creature using nothing but sound. Futterman does this with apparent ease, and she sings and does comedy too. I have real admiration for these unseen craftspeople who quietly supply the soul of the work we love.
