My Take

Noah Hawley pulled off something I thought impossible, taking the Coen Brothers' Fargo and turning it into a TV anthology that honors the original while standing entirely on its own, all snowbound dread and dark comedy. His voice is distinct, fatalistic, oddly funny, and visually audacious, which is why Legion remains one of the strangest and most ambitious things ever made from a comic book. He is also a genuine novelist, not a screenwriter dabbling in prose, with an Edgar Award to prove it. Few people work at this level across both books and prestige television, and his sensibility is unmistakably his own.

He is best known as the creator and showrunner of the FX anthology series Fargo, for which he won a Primetime Emmy Award, and the Marvel series Legion.
