My Take

I have a real fondness for tall, unglamorous defensive midfielders, and Oliver Abildgaard fits the mould perfectly. At 192 cm he anchors the part of the pitch nobody televises: the holding role, the one that does the dirty work so the attackers can shine. Leaving Denmark to grind it out in Italy with Sampdoria takes serious nerve for a young northern player. I admire footballers who never score yet remain indispensable, because that thankless labour is what real professionalism looks like. He strikes me as a grounded, dependable sort, and those are exactly the players a team cannot survive without.
