Olivia Williams

Olivia Williams is, to my mind, the embodiment of the cerebral English actress. Cambridge-educated and trained on the stage, she brings an intelligence to her screen work that you can feel even in stillness, whether the icy warmth of The Sixth Sense or the wry edge she carries from her Camden roots. What I respect is that she has never chased fame for its own sake; she builds a career one carefully chosen role at a time, and she writes as a playwright too. Performers like her only deepen with age, and I would happily watch her in anything.
