Omar Apollo

Omar Apollo is one of the more exciting voices of his generation to me. Born in Hobart, Indiana, to Mexican roots, he moves fluidly between English and Spanish, and that bilingual, border-crossing identity gives his R&B a warmth and sensuality you cannot fake. His debut album Ivory earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist, proof the talent matches the buzz. There is something stirring about an artist emerging from Hobart, Indiana, to sing across two languages and cultures, not with hesitation but with pride. I think he has real room to grow, and I am watching closely.
