Paul Draper

Draper interests me as a survivor of the Britpop wave who refused to coast on Mansun nostalgia. Coming out of Liverpool in 1970, he carried a slightly art-school, contrarian streak that made the band more than just another guitar act. What I respect most is the second act: stepping out of the frontman role and quietly building a solo catalogue and production work rather than chasing a reunion paycheck. That kind of slow, stubborn craftsmanship rarely trends, but it ages well. I suspect his deeper records reward patient listeners more than the casual radio crowd ever realized.
