Peer Kluge

Peer Kluge played for Chemnitzer FC, Borussia Mönchengladbach, Nürnberg, Schalke and Hertha BSC, and I actually like writing about midfielders like him. A 179 cm central player from Frankenberg in Saxony, he occupied the unglamorous engine room rather than scoring headlines or guarding the net. Coming out of Frankenberg in the former East Germany and grinding his way into the professional game tells me plenty about persistence. Players like this stitch a team together with positioning, pressing, and tidy distribution that rarely makes the highlight reel. I always end up rooting for the quiet workhorses of the middle third, and Kluge feels like one of them.
