Peter Jones

Peter Jones strikes me as the rare entrepreneur whose television fame never overshadows the actual business chops underneath. Born in Langley in 1966 and raised in Maidenhead, he built interests spanning mobile phones, media, retail and property, and earning a CBE confirms this is no reality-TV mirage. What I find genuinely compelling is his role as a backer of fledgling founders rather than just a brand. Plenty of rich people sit on panels and pontificate; far fewer keep writing cheques and mentoring the next generation. That recycling of his own success into other people's risk is, to me, the most admirable thing about him.
