My Take

Peter Sohn is one of those Pixar talents I find easy to admire. The Bronx-raised, CalArts-trained filmmaker first won me over with the sheer tenderness of his short Partly Cloudy, and his features The Good Dinosaur and Elemental, the latter an Oscar nominee, carry a sincerity rooted in his own immigrant family story. I love that he weaves personal heritage into broadly appealing animation without ever turning preachy. As an animator, voice actor, and writer all at once, he embodies a warmth-over-spectacle philosophy in storytelling, and that is exactly the kind of creator I want to cheer for.
