My Take
Prashant Tamang's story moves me more than most. Rising from Darjeeling to win Indian Idol in 2007 was the kind of overnight life-change that rarely sticks, yet he turned it into a real career across music and film, eventually settling in Kathmandu. What strikes me is how a single voice from Darjeeling drew some 70 million votes in the final. His passing in early 2026 feels like a quiet loss the wider world barely noticed. I have a soft spot for self-made talents like him, and I think his win meant far more than a trophy.
