My Take
What strikes me about Puri Jagannadh is his sheer velocity as a filmmaker. Since his 2000 debut with Badri, he has treated Telugu cinema like a sprint rather than a marathon, writing his own scripts and directing with unmistakable swagger. Pokiri remains, to my mind, the moment his instincts for mass entertainment crystallized into something other directors still chase. I admire creators who own their voice end to end, writer and director and producer at once, because the films arrive with no committee fingerprints on them. He can be uneven, sure, but I would rather watch a director swing hard and occasionally miss than one who never swings at all.
