Quincy Promes

Quincy Promes is a difficult figure for me to write about. On the pitch his talent was undeniable, a sharp, direct winger who rose from Twente to Spartak Moscow and a successful career. But the convictions for aggravated assault and drug trafficking, and his current imprisonment, cast a long shadow over all of it. I am not here to judge the man, yet I find the gap between his gifts and his choices deeply sad. Wasted potential is one of the bleakest things in sport, and I genuinely hope he finds a better road eventually.
