Rachel Stevens

Rachel Stevens was the glamorous face of S Club during pop's most cheerfully unembarrassed era, and I have a lasting soft spot for that sound. What earns my respect is that she proved she could stand alone: "Funky Dory" hit number nine and went gold, no small feat for a band member going solo. A London-born, fashion-school-trained performer who also modeled, she had the looks to coast but kept working. Her return for the 2023 S Club reunion tells me she values loyalty to the people she came up with, and that kind of constancy makes an artist easy to keep rooting for.
