Rick Wilson

Rick Wilson fascinates me as a professional who turned his craft against his own side. A longtime Republican ad-maker, he knows exactly how political messaging is engineered, which makes his sharp-tongued criticism, captured in the provocative Everything Trump Touches Dies, land harder than any outsider's. Changing allegiances publicly takes nerve, and I respect the willingness to burn bridges over principle. He is plainly a polarizing figure, and his style is more brawler than diplomat. Still, in an era of careful hedging, I find his refusal to soften his verdicts oddly bracing, even when I want to argue back.
