Rie Kugimiya

I genuinely think Rie Kugimiya is one of those voices that quietly rewired a whole genre. She basically became the patron saint of the tsundere, so iconic that fans coined "Kugimiya disease" just to describe getting hooked on her, which is the kind of nickname you only earn by being absurdly good. What gets me is the range hiding behind that pint-sized, razor-sharp delivery: she'll snap out a furious "shut up!" one second, then play a wide-eyed boy, a tiny chibi mascot, or a soft little sidekick the next, and it all lands. Born in Osaka, with voice-acting awards for both lead and supporting roles, she never seemed to chase the spotlight, and honestly that low-key vibe makes me respect her more. To me her voice isn't just a performance, it's basically its own little corner of culture.
