Chikako Asō

The bones of Chikako Asō's story win me over. The daughter of one prime minister and the wife of another, she still went her own way as a director of Asō Group companies, and when her husband lost his seat she was out canvassing supporters in his district. That's a quiet kind of grit I have huge respect for. She doesn't read like someone chasing the spotlight, and frankly that's what makes me root for her. I've got a soft spot for the steady ones who just keep stacking bricks while nobody's watching, and I'd happily clap for her from the back of the room.
