My Take

Lopez has an almost unfair range, jumping from the foul-mouthed puppet satire of Avenue Q to the gleeful blasphemy of The Book of Mormon and then to the earnest, soaring pop of Frozen without missing a beat. The fact that he and his wife Kristen wrote 'Let It Go' is reason enough for legend status; that song became a cultural phenomenon. He's a double EGOT winner, which is staggering when you consider how young he achieved it. To me he's proof that genuine wit and genuine sincerity can come from the same songwriter.

Robert Lopez (born February 23, 1975) is an American composer, lyricist, and songwriter. He is one of the few people to achieve EGOT status, having won the Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony awards. With collaborator Kristen Anderson-Lopez he wrote the music for Disney's Frozen, including 'Let It Go,' and he co-created the Broadway hits Avenue Q and The Book of Mormon.
