My Take
Robert Plant could have spent fifty years singing Whole Lotta Love on arena tours, and nobody would have blamed him. That he chose not to is exactly why I rank him among the great artists rather than merely the great voices. After Led Zeppelin ended, he wandered through folk, Americana, and North African textures, and his records with Alison Krauss show a singer trading youthful firepower for depth and restraint. The wail that defined hard rock matured into something wiser without losing its mystery. For me, Plant is the rare frontman whose curiosity outlived his fame, and that makes him the gold standard for aging in rock.
