My Take

What stays with me about Theresa Saldana is not the Golden Globe nomination for The Commish, but what she did after surviving a horrific attack: she turned private trauma into public advocacy for victims of violent crime. That choice reframes everything. I tend to value actors who carry something larger than their filmography, and she clearly did. Her on-screen warmth always seemed to me to sit atop real steel. She died in 2016, but the dignity of her second act, helping others through pain she knew intimately, strikes me as the truest performance of her life, and the reason she deserves remembering.
