My Take
Rory Feek moves me most through the story behind the music. A Kansas-born country singer-songwriter, he wrote singles for the likes of Blake Shelton and Clay Walker, showing the generous craft of a writer who builds careers for others as much as his own. But it is the duo Joey + Rory, formed with his wife, that gives his work its heart. Founding Giantslayer Records to launch independent artists fits that same selfless pattern. To me, his life of making music side by side with his partner, far from the center of the spotlight, reads like a quiet, deeply human ballad.
