Ryōta Ōsaka

Okay, real talk: I always have to remind myself that the "Ōsaka" in Ryōta Ōsaka is just his name, because the guy's actually from Tokushima, not the city my brain keeps insisting on. Once you get past that, though, what I love is how recognizable his voice is, that warm, slightly boyish tone with real backbone underneath, so he can play the easygoing charmer and the earnest straight-arrow kid and make both feel lived-in. Landing the Seiyu Award for Best New Actor back in 2015 told me the industry clocked him early, and it tracks: he's not the type to shout for attention, he just quietly ends up at the center of whatever he's in. That kind of slow-burn craftsmanship is my favorite flavor, and I'd happily keep listening to him for years.
