Sasha Spielberg

I have a soft spot for Sasha Spielberg — not because of her last name, but because she clearly worked hard to step out from under its enormous shadow. Recording and performing under the name Buzzy Lee, she carved out this wonderfully intimate, hazy indie-pop sound that feels nothing like a Hollywood legacy project; think late-night bedroom recordings with just enough melancholy to stick with you. She studied at Brown, which tells you she wasn't just coasting on connections, and the music she's put out shows a genuine ear for texture and mood. It would've been so easy to lean on the family brand, but instead she built something quiet and her own, and I respect that hustle more than most people probably give her credit for.
