My Take
Shukla is the sort of actor I instinctively trust the moment he appears on screen. Across Satya, Barfi!, Lage Raho Munna Bhai and his National Award–winning turn in Jolly LLB, he has quietly become the connective tissue of modern Hindi cinema. What I admire is the range hiding behind that unassuming presence — he writes and directs too, yet seems happiest stealing scenes as a supporting player. He's the antidote to flashy stardom: substance over spectacle, every time. For my taste, that makes him one of India's most reliable and rewarding performers.
