Seema Biswas

Seema Biswas is the kind of actor I deeply respect, one who chooses weight over glamour. Her ferocious turn as Phoolan Devi in Bandit Queen won her the National Film Award and announced a performer willing to disappear entirely into a role. That she later earned a Genie Award in Canada for Water shows her power translating far beyond Hindi cinema. From a Filmfare debut prize to international recognition, she built a career on conviction rather than spectacle. I value performers who treat acting as excavation, and Biswas strikes me as the real, fearless article.
