My Take

For me Serginho was pure lightning down the left flank. Out of Nilópolis in Rio, the 183cm Brazilian patrolled everything from left-back to left wing, and his energetic overlapping runs were a joy to watch. The headline, of course, is AC Milan: two Champions League titles in 2003 and 2007 plus a Serie A crown, which puts him among the genuine European greats. People underrate dependable wide players, but that explosive attacking instinct made him special. I love that he later moved into coaching, presumably passing on the courage to push forward. He is exactly my kind of footballer.
