My Take

Shahana Goswami is the kind of performer I quietly root for. The New Delhi-born actress broke through with her supporting turn in the musical drama Rock On!! in 2008, winning the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actress, and earned a nomination the next year for Firaaq. Actors who command the screen from the supporting ranks tend to be the ones with real craft rather than just star wattage, and that is what I see in her. She does not need to stand at the centre of the frame to leave a mark on you. I find her trajectory genuinely worth following and look forward to where her choices take her.
