Shin Ji-min

Jimin, born Shin Ji-min in Seongnam, was the leader and main rapper of AOA, and that detail tells you more than her versatility ever could. Singer, model, songwriter, rapper, guitarist in the sub-unit AOA Black, she clearly had range, but it's the nerve to front a group and spit her own bars that I respect. Her semi-final run on Unpretty Rapstar showed she wasn't content to be a pretty face; she wanted to be heard on her own terms. Bullying allegations from a former bandmate led her to leave AOA and retire in 2020 before returning in 2022, and yet I find it hard not to root for an artist with that kind of backbone.
