Shōta Mase

Shōta Mase was born in 1986 in Yūbari, Hokkaidō, works as an actor and television personality, and stands 164 cm. A former idol who now also works as an "idol nurse," he has lived with a rare congenital arteriovenous malformation of the brain and, since 2019, has spoken about it publicly as an influencer for people with rare diseases. Yūbari is worth pausing on. It is a former coal-mining city that became internationally known for its financial collapse and population decline, and it is not a place that produces a steady stream of entertainers. Leaving there for a career in Tokyo entertainment is a real departure, not a short hop. He grew up in Sangenjaya in Tokyo and is represented by LIVESTAR avex. Turning a personal medical fight into public advocacy, while still working in entertainment, is doing something durable.
