My Take
For most viewers Helberg will forever be Howard Wolowitz, and winning a Critics' Choice Award for that role proves how fully he inhabited it. But what intrigues me is the gap between the broad sitcom comedy and the precise, trained actor underneath. Trained at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, he has the technical chops most comic actors only fake, and his timing has an almost musical exactness. I suspect he is a far more serious dramatic talent than the sitcom let him show, and the fact that he writes as well suggests an artist still discovering his own range. He is one I would happily watch take bigger swings.
